DIN institute in Germany is the maintenance agency for the country codes.
When has Palestine been added ?
Palestine has been added in October 1999. The code is PS, the name is Occupied Palestinian Territory.
Why is Taiwan called 'Taiwan, a province of China ?
That is the official ISO description.
What happened to Zaire ?
Zaire (code ZR) is called 'Congo, The Democratic Republic Of' (code CD) now.
